Greenwich Village Apartment Renovation

In this renovation project for an art collector in Greenwich Village, the primary goals were to modernize the kitchen and bath and increase the amount of wall space to display an extensive collection of art. The project required careful consideration of lighting and a design solution that would update the apartment, preserve some of the existing pre-war details, and highlight the stunning west-facing view overlooking the historic brownstones of the landmark district.

Work included the gut renovation of the kitchen and bath and a combination of classic and modern touches. To provide the flexibility required to rotate the art collection, the ceiling beams were lowered just enough to recess lighting tracks. The bathroom was updated with clean lines and a custom vanity, and the kitchen was designed both to display work and provide a contemplative perch to work and appreciate the view.
