Beaux Artes Facades

Katz restored the street facing façades of these two French-inspired Beaux Arts buildings, originally built in 1902 as part of a development that included five abutting mansions. The two buildings were combined internally in 1924 though the brick and limestone facades remain distinct. Through the years, these structures served as the homes for everyone from a wealthy steel magnate to Hollywood actresses. Our restoration efforts consisted of cleaning and repair of cracked and spalled brick masonry, restoration of brownstone window surrounds, repair and restoration of limestone facade components, refurbishment of the sheet metal cornice and repair of the original wood windows on both facades

Our firm, Building Equity Management, has taken to using Katz Architecture for the majority of the facade restoration projects for our 100 building portfolio. We’ve grown to appreciate their ability to apply common sense solutions and to intelligently discuss cost effective ways to keep our buildings to code.
