In the works for a while, 72 Grand Street is a new building we have designed in the Soho Cast Iron Historic District. Composed of a steel frame structure with articulated metal cladding, large expanses of glass and a floating metal cornice backed by ribbed glass, our design is a contemporary interpretation of the surrounding architecture in the district. The five-story building will include flexible office space, a roof deck and retail space at the ground floor. While the approvals process for a new building in any NYC Landmark District is fraught with obstacles, Soho is particularly difficult, so we are thrilled that this one was approved unanimously by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Construction is scheduled to begin soon.
