Our Philosophy

  •

    Step 1.

    Listen

  •

    Step 2.

    Educate

  •

    Step 3.

    Design

  •

    Step 4.

    Build

We are not philosophers. We are architects. We know that if you are happier in your space you are happier in your skin. It’s our job to make sure that you like where you live, work, or play. We make sure that your space works—it is the right size, everything functions properly, the light feels right, and it is inviting for reading or listening to music.

While every project begins differently, the goal is to construct a place that you will love. Some clients begin with a clear goal while others begin with a vague vision or just a feeling. In all cases, our job is to get you from here to there.

We help you to understand what you want by exploring your likes and dislikes, what spaces make you feel comfortable, what your priorities are, how much you want to spend, and how long you want to be there. We take care of the stuff that scares people: building codes, approvals, coordination of hidden wiring, budgeting, scheduling, and technical detailing. Along the way we show you lots of beautiful materials — tiles, stone, plumbing fixtures, wood samples, fabric and lighting fixtures. The process should be an enjoyable one of investigation and discovery.

And then the construction starts…

Construction is messy; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. However, done properly, you can minimize the disruptions and make the process more smooth and manageable. This is what we do and why we get hired. We’ve been doing it for a long time and in virtually every building type.

We educate our clients from the beginning. We tell you what to expect so that there are few surprises and remain pro-active throughout to identify problems and address them early. During construction you can never prevent all surprises but with proper professional guidance you can severely limit them. Our clients appreciate our ability to save them money and they like our honesty.

In the end, the goal is your happiness in a new space. Your happiness is our success.

Outcome:

Happy Clients

  • As an Owner's Rep and Architect, David has guided us at the Stephan Weiss Studio through a number of complex code, zoning and construction projects. He and his team have been a valuable resource.

David Bressman \ Executive Vice President and General Counsel \ Urban Zen, LLC
  • David and his team did a great job coordinating with the other members of our construction and design team. He really took charge of the construction process and pushed it to a great conclusion on a fast timetable. We definitely would use him again.

    Jeff Scruggs
  • We were thrilled with David and his entire team's performance and skill in our store buildout. The "Katz Team" saw our project through from inception to completion... and were able to constantly arrive at creative and thoughtful solutions.

    Nathan Gindi \ Founder \ Photo-Op NYC
  • David has a good eye and creative ideas that really worked well for our space.  He was always fair, easy to work with, and always kept our budget in mind.  When it came time to start the work, he arranged for an excellent contractor who completed the work on time and with great workmanship.
