In his own words
A brief historical review of the life and times of David Katz, Founding Father
Founding principal, David Katz AIA is a registered architect with over 20 years of experience in the fields of architecture and design. After graduating from Cooper Union in 1987, he obtained his Masters of Architecture in Italy through the University of Washington Italian Studies Program, where (in addition to eating some fabulous food and doing a brief stint as a professional tour guide) he received the school’s Outstanding Thesis Award for his research of the architecture of the Venetian Lagoon.
Over the course of his career, David has contributed to a wide range of residential, commercial, retail, institutional, urban design and preservation projects. He has worked on both large- and small-scale projects throughout the United States and abroad. Practicing in New York City for over 20 years, David is well acquainted with the various New York City agencies and required approvals processes. Having played an instrumental role in the completion of several jobs outside the United States, he is well-versed in the complexities associated with coordinating international work.
Because he has seen dozens of projects through construction, David offers every job years of trouble shooting knowledge and a roster of useful contacts.
David sketches, occasionally watercolors and doodles while on the phone. Friends and family know him as a nice guy and a pretty good chef.
